A thorough diesel tank cleaning turned out to be the solution after recurring problems.
On behalf of the main dealer Volvo Penta, PWR Motoren in Zwartsluis, we took on this charming cabin tender from Antaris.
The owner had been facing recurring problems for several seasons due to his contaminated diesel tanks and had been busy trying to fix it himself with additives, etc.
But additives do not magically dissolve water or sludge....
This winter, he finally decided on the only sustainable solution…: a professional diesel tank cleaning.
The boat has 2 plastic tanks of 200 liters each. And despite their not too large size, each tank had 2 baffle plates...
in other words, each tank consists of 3 compartments.
We made the entire tank visible and accessible for intensive manual cleaning. The only way to make the entire tank 100% visually demonstrable clean. Each compartment also received its own service hatch. This way, the tank can be perfectly maintained in the future.

Once empty and cut open, we immediately understood what was causing the problems. The tanks were full of dead diesel bacteria and water. Additives may kill the bacteria but do not clean up the waste... A widespread misconception.
We manually cleaned each compartment thoroughly. We rinsed the clean tanks with an antibacterial biocide, filtered the diesel ultra-fine, and removed the water.
After pumping the clean diesel back into the tanks, we sealed the tanks with our famous service lids with an internal flange construction. This boat can finally safely return to the water.
